There are many different reasons why families start to foster but they all have one thing in common – a wish to help children and young people who are going through a difficult time in their lives. Foster children takes very special people and the rewards make it all worth it.
With Compass, you’ll be joining a team of professionals. We give carers the opportunity to build a career in fostering through training, mentoring, involvement in local support groups, recruiting other carers and developing a host of skills that enhance your expertise as a foster carer.
The Fostering Process
If you’ve ever thought about fostering a child but didn’t know where to start then we are here to help! Becoming an approved foster carer is an important process, usually taking between 4 – 6 months. During this time we will get to know you and your family, carry out a number of checks and prepare you for the challenges and rewards of fostering.
Becoming a foster carer with Compass can be broken down into 5 steps: Contact, Home Visit, Assessment, Panel and finally Ongoing Training & Support. You can find more information on each of the steps to become a foster carer here
