Fostering Question 1

Do I need to own my own property?

Lots of our foster carers live in rented accommodation, so it is not essential for you to own your property. If you do live in rented accommodation, we will require consent from your landlord or letting agent. This rented home will also require a spare bedroom and we will come out to visit you to to assess the suitability of your home for fostering. This is to help ensure a safe space for the foster child.

Why Compass Fostering?

With us, you’ll be joining a team of professionals. We give carers the opportunity to build a career in fostering through training, mentoring, involvement in local support groups, recruiting other carers and developing a host of skills that enhance your expertise as a foster carer.

Our foster carers receive extensive support, generous allowances and everything they need to help children and young people find emotional stability and security. We know that while fostering is often highly rewarding, it can also be challenging at times: this is why we constantly look at new and innovative ways of supporting our carer families to minimise any challenges and support the placement.
