Fostering Question 12

Is there an age limit for foster carers?

Legally there are no upper age limits on becoming a foster carer. Fostering does require a lot of energy but providing you are fit and healthy there’s no reason you couldn’t do it. Older carers also often bring invaluable experience to the role.

Why Compass Fostering?

With us, you’ll be joining a team of professionals. We give carers the opportunity to build a career in fostering through training, mentoring, involvement in local support groups, recruiting other carers and developing a host of skills that enhance your expertise as a foster carer.

Our foster carers receive extensive support, generous allowances and everything they need to help children and young people find emotional stability and security. We know that while fostering is often highly rewarding, it can also be challenging at times: this is why we constantly look at new and innovative ways of supporting our carer families to minimise any challenges and support the placement.
