Melaku’s journey to the UK was long and arduous, but since finding a home in Chichester with Sonia, he has thrived in a supportive and stable environment.

Melaku fled Ethiopia at the young age of 12, enduring a perilous journey across multiple countries before finally reaching the UK in October 2016. His story, as told by The Argus, showcases not only his determination and resilience, but the critical role that foster carers play in helping asylum seekers rebuild their lives.

Since arriving at Sonia’s home, Melaku has made remarkable progress in integrating into the community and focusing on his education. With Sonia’s unwavering support and guidance, he is now on a path to building a brighter future.
