Compass London’s Foster Carer Appreciation Dinner and Awards
In September, more than 85 foster families from across London gathered for a spectacular evening, the Foster Carer Appreciation Dinner and Awards Ceremony, joined by members of the regional staff team.
Hosted in a grand hall adorned with glittering chandeliers and soaring ceilings, the evening was made for delight. It offered carers the perfect chance to let their hair down, enjoy one another’s company, and celebrate the incredible difference they make every day.
Everyone arrived dressed in their finest attire, ready for an evening filled with recognition, laughter, and joy. The night began with the presentation of Long Service Awards, celebrating carers for five and twenty-six years of outstanding service. The awards were presented by Head of Fostering, Phildelia Amele, and Assistant Director, Robina Khan, who shared heartfelt thanks and admiration for each carer’s unwavering commitment.
During the evening, Phildelia Amele spoke from the heart, delivering a moving speech before the festivities began.
“It is such a privilege to stand here with you tonight at this special celebration – a night dedicated to honouring you, our incredible foster carers. And when I say incredible, I mean it,” she began.
Phildelia reflected on her own journey, sharing that joining Compass Fostering London in 2022 had been “the best decision” she has made. She went on to speak powerfully about the profound impact carers make every single day.
“You are more than carers – you are advocates, role models, and an anchor of stability. You remind every child that they are welcome, seen, valued, and worthy of love. That is a gift that cannot be measured. As we celebrate tonight, please know how deeply appreciated you are”.
Her words set a heartfelt tone for the evening, which honoured all those in attendance and served as a small token of Compass’ immense gratitude for their continued dedication.
A particularly touching moment came as one devoted couple was recognized for seven years of fostering, as they prepare to retire in the coming months, a truly emotional and inspiring tribute to their journey and impact. Another couple shared proudly after receiving their award that it would be “going straight into the trophy cabinet”.
Following the awards, guests enjoyed a sumptuous three-course meal showcasing a variety of culinary delights to suit all dietary needs. From beautifully presented starters to mouth-watering mains and indulgent desserts, every detail of the evening was designed to make carers feel appreciated and celebrated.
As the night continued, the hall came alive with music, dancing, and laughter, a joyful reminder of the strong community spirit that runs through Compass Fostering London.
The event was a true celebration of care, dedication, and connection, a fitting tribute to the remarkable foster carers who embody Compass’ mission of fostering that changes lives.
