Compass Wales Sports Day

The day kicked off with a series of classic sports day games, bringing out the competitive spirit in the most light-hearted way. From the egg and spoon race to the sack race, the three-legged dash to the sprint, there were smiles and cheers all around. Tug of war was a clear favourite, drawing in both young people and carers, while rugby and football kept others entertained throughout the morning.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing young people step up to lead. One of the children attending took the initiative to organise and guide some of the games, using his sports experience to encourage others and make sure everyone felt included. His confidence and leadership brought an extra layer of warmth to the event, showing how shared activities can help children develop skills and self-belief.

After a busy morning of running, jumping, and cheering, everyone gathered for a delicious BBQ. The menu catered to all dietary needs, with meat, vegetarian, and halal options. Rounding off with refreshing ice creams and plenty of water to keep everyone cool. The food, much like the games, was enjoyed together in a spirit of community and care.

Events like this are a shining example of the Compass Community in action. Care, education, and therapy come together to create a positive, memorable experience for children and young people. They offer a chance to build relationships, celebrate achievements, and simply enjoy being together outside the day-to-day routine. One team member reflected:

Where every child knows someone is in their corner, able to be themselves, surrounded by people that they trust.
