We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Therapeutic Practitioners, whose professional background and training is underpinned by theories of working with trauma, attachment and loss. You will have good working knowledge in working with children and young people in the care sector.

All roles will spread their time across our Fostering service. We also have similar roles in our residential and education services.

We are currently recruiting in the following areas:

  • Manchester and Bolton

As a Therapeutic Practitioner, you will be providing therapeutic interventions, support, guidance and scripts for Carers with young people exhibiting behaviour and communications as a result of their complex needs. Part of your work will be to provide therapeutic training for carers and staff as well as running Therapeutic Healing groups. As a key member of the Therapeutic Services team, you will be coordinating the therapeutic referrals from the staff in the Fostering Service as well as working together to reduce the destructive elements that trauma plays on child development. You will be promoting a philosophy of therapeutic understanding from within the Fostering Service. You will be involved in Child focused discussions, referrals for therapy and be skilled at writing reports.

You will be part of our holistic approach of working together, linking our Fostering, Education, Residential and Therapeutic Services together. Whilst you will be primarily working in the Fostering settings, you will be a member of the Therapeutic Services AHCT (Assessing and Healing Complex Trauma) team and your line-manager will be our Therapeutic Development Manager.

Compass Community Children’s Services is an independent social care and education provider with an excellent reputation for providing high quality and tailored packages of care to young people.

The successful applicant will receive specialist training in our AHCT approach which you will then be promoting. We have a number of Fostering regions across the country where we are seeking to develop the Assessing and Healing Complex Trauma approach; You will have the opportunity to discuss and reflect on your work with your colleagues in other regions, helping to develop and maintain the therapeutic ethos between them all. This may involve some flexible working hours.

This is an exciting new role in which you will work in partnership with the Therapy Team and reflect together with Therapeutic Practitioners for the Education and Residential settings about the evolution of therapeutic understanding and practice across all the services.
